Nursing Home evacuation from the Maryland Eastern Shore.

MIEMSS used HC Standard® to expedit the evacuation of nursing home residents,  assist family reunification and facilitate the safe return of residents to their homes.

During Hurricane Irene, Global Emergency Resource’s Patient Tracking GoKit™ and EWRAP™ devices were placed in a car trunk and driven to the nursing homes.  The GoKit™ (a portable, wheeled Zarges case designed to store and charge up to 5 Motorola MC65 mobile handheld computers and a laptop) was opened and equipment turned on.  The ruggedized Motorola MC65s were used to scan the patient IDs.  The battery-powered EWRAP™ units were used to provide wireless internet access.
