Exercises - Dulles International Airport

May 8, 2010

GER tracked the triage, treatment and transport of 120 patients.

Scenario:

A Bombardier Q400 inbound to land on Runway 4 experiences severe flight control problems approximately 200 feet prior to the approach end of the runway.

The aircraft impacts the runway, breaks apart and bursts into flames as it skids onto the parking lot nearest the runway. Parts of the airplane strike vehicles driving nearby, pushing them into the parking lot and creating a debris field.

GER’s Role

GER’s HC Standard®, already in use in Northern Virginia, was the patient tracking & situational awareness platform for the exercise.  GER personnel trained Family Assistance Support Team, American Red Cross and airline representatives on identification and reunification of family members using HC Standard®.
